Production
What are typical production lead times?
+
Most standard-spec orders ship in 8-12 weeks from confirmed approval. Heavy-custom builds, full hand-tufting, special framing, custom-matched laminates, typically run 12-16 weeks. We schedule production against your soft-open or grand-opening date, and we’ll flag any week we believe we’re at risk before it happens, not after.
Ordering
How does the quote process work?
+
Submit the Request a Quote form with your floor plan, quantity, finish palette, and target install date. Someone who can actually price the job reviews it the same business day. We come back with a written quote, a recommended specification, and an honest production-window estimate. From there, you can iterate freely; we don’t run a sales-pressure machine.
Do you sell through distributors or direct?
+
Both. Sims has historically sold to a network of foodservice and FF&E distributors who serve restaurants, hospitals, hotels, military bases, and coffee shops, and many of those customers ask for us by name. We also work directly with end customers, designers, and contractors who prefer to engage the manufacturer. Tell us which channel suits your project and we’ll route accordingly.
Customization
How custom can I go?
+
Essentially every dimension, finish, and detail is open for modification. Most projects start from a standard catalog SKU, a Pioneer 07, a SIMS Special C-05, a waiting bench, and we adapt from there. Specify a non-standard length, a different back pattern, a custom laminate cap strip, hand-tufting on the inside back, integrated outlets at the end-cap. Quotations for modifications and full custom alterations are always available.
Materials
What materials do you use in the frame?
+
Kiln-dried hardwoods at all structural and stress points, never plywood or particle board where long-term strength matters. Joints are assembled with resin-coated staples plus reinforcing corner blocks for shear resistance. Seat decks use sinuous-wire springs (with eight-way hand-tied as an upgrade on premium SKUs). Upholstery is applied by craftspeople who have spent decades working with everything from commercial vinyls and bleach-cleanables to long-pile velvets.
Do you supply fabric, or do I bring my own?
+
Both. We maintain a deep in-house line of commercial fabrics, vinyls, and velvets, every color in the Sims swatch book is field-tested for hospitality use. If your designer has already selected a fabric from another mill, we’ll source it directly or accept it on a COM (customer’s own material) basis. We’ll flag any fabric we believe won’t hold up to the duty cycle of your venue.
Delivery
How is delivery and installation handled?
+
We palletize and ship via blanket-wrapped LTL freight to the lower 48. Standard delivery is curbside; inside delivery and set-in-place installation are available on request and quoted with the project. For larger installs (stadiums, multi-property hotels, ground-up restaurants), we coordinate directly with your general contractor and project manager on the install window.
Service & Care
What if a booth is damaged in delivery or in service?
+
Call us directly, a decision-maker will answer. If something arrives damaged, replacement parts ship quickly rather than starting a paperwork chain. For in-service damage (a torn upholstery panel, a loose cap strip, a damaged base), we’ll either ship the replacement component or, on larger jobs, send a service crew. The shorter the delay between problem and resolution, the more your seating earns its keep.
How do I clean and maintain Sims seating?
+
Daily: dry-wipe upholstery and cap strips with a clean microfiber. Spot-clean spills immediately with a damp cloth, most commercial vinyls and bleach-cleanables tolerate diluted neutral cleaners. Weekly: vacuum seat and back crevices, check that fasteners under the seat haven’t worked loose. Quarterly: inspect cap-strip seams and base trim; tighten or report any loose components. We’ll include a written care guide tailored to the specific fabrics and finishes on your order.
Products
Can I order fabric or finish samples?
+
Yes, request swatches as part of the quote process or via the contact form. We ship swatch cards of any in-line fabric, plus laminate chips and wood-finish samples on request. For multi-location rollouts we’ll also send a full-size upholstered “memo”, a 12-inch square of the actual deck construction, so your design team can stress-test the fabric and feel before committing.
